In partnership with New York State Bridge Authority (NYSBA), Roebling Labs deployed a vessel collision warning system this week at the Newburgh-Beacon Bridges over the Hudson River.
This is the first such warning system in North America. The system responds directly to NTSB Safety Recommendation H-25-030 issued following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
Roebling Labs assigns threat levels to AIS-equipped vessels by combining real-time transponder tracking, trajectory forecasting, and AASHTO impact analysis.
We have already logged fifty vessels including cargo ships and tows up to 199 meters (650 feet) long.
